A Daily Prayer based on Jeremiah 2:1-3:5

Lord God Almighty, I pray for my city and nation today. I ask you to return us to the devotion of our youth. Cause us once again to be holy to the Lord, the firstfruits of your harvest. I confess that we have strayed far from you. We have followed worthless things and become worthless ourselves. We have not asked, “Where is the Lord?” Even our spiritual leaders who deal with your word do not know you and have rebelled against you. No nation has ever changed its gods, but we have exchanged your glory for worthless idols and worthless things. We have sinned against you. We have forsaken you, the spring of living water, and we have dug our own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water. We have brought our decay on ourselves by forsaking you, the one who has led us on the way. Our own wickedness has punished us. It is evil and bitter for us because we have forsaken the Lord our God and have no awe of you. Although we wash ourselves with soda and use an abundance of soap, the stain of our guilt is still before you. We have turned our backs to you and not our faces, even though when we are in trouble we say to you, “Come and save us!” We have not responded to your correction, and have forgotten you days without number. We have defiled the land you have given to us, and yet we refuse to blush with shame. We call you our Father and our friend from our youth, and yet we do all the evil we can. Please forgive us and renew a right spirit within us. This I pray humbly in the name of Jesus. Amen.

"There is no better way to pray according to the will of God than by praying his own word back to him. These daily prayers are crafted, as much as possible, to incorporate the very words of the Scripture."

Never before in the history of our country has America faced a moral crisis like the one before us today. The foundations of our government are crumbling right before our eyes. Our churches are abandoning God, our families are in shambles. There is only one hope for restoration - the Lord Jesus Christ.
