A Daily Prayer based on I Samuel 15

Lord God, I pray that ______________________ and I will listen carefully to your word and obey your voice. May we take to heart the words of Samuel that to obey is better than sacrifice and that you take more delight in us when we obey your voice than when we offer sacrifices to you. I pray that we will recognize that rebellion against you and your word gives as much ground to demonic spirits as divination, and that arrogance, the kind of arrogance that Saul showed when he set up a monument to himself, opens our lives up to Satan as much as idolatry does. May we instead submit to your word and humble ourselves under your mighty hand. Lord, you rejected Saul from being king over your people because he rejected your word. I pray that none of us will make that same mistake, so that you do not have to remove us from positions of leadership and influence. Prompt us to be honest about our obedience and not pretend, as Saul did, that we are obeying your word when we know that we are not. Lord, Saul was fortunate to have a mentor like Samuel, who was so troubled when Saul turned back from following you that he cried out to you for an entire night and was grieved when you found it necessary to remove him from office. I pray that you will raise up a friend or mentor like that for each one of us, and show us someone we can care for and pray for as Samuel cared for and prayed for Saul. This I ask in the name of Christ, amen.

"There is no better way to pray according to the will of God than by praying his own word back to him. These daily prayers are crafted, as much as possible, to incorporate the very words of the Scripture."

Our churches are abandoning God, our families are in shambles. There is only one hope for restoration - the Lord Jesus Christ.
