A Daily Prayer based on Hosea 5:15-8:14

Sovereign Lord, We come before you again this day on behalf of our land. We confess our sins as a people to you. We acknowledge that our love for you is too often like the morning mist, like the early dew that disappears. We know that we have broken covenant with you and been unfaithful to you. Our cities are stained with footprints of blood, and shameful crimes and horrible things are done. We confess that we practice deceit, that thieves break into houses, and that bandits rob in the streets. Our community leaders are too often inflamed with wine and join hands with mockers. We confess that we have set up political leaders without your consent and without your approval. We acknowledge that our nation is like a dove, easily deceived and senseless, and that our moral strength is being sapped and we do not realize it. Lord, you have written for us many things in your word, but we have regarded them as something alien. We have rebelled against your law and have forgotten that you are our Maker. We have cried out to you, "Oh, our God, we acknowledge you" but at the same time have rejected what is good. We confess that we are sowing the wind and so must reap the whirlwind. We know that you desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of you rather than burnt offering. We pray that you will move with power in our land, that you will restore the fortunes of your people, and heal us. We pray that you will bring us to admit our guilt and seek your face. May we, in the misery we have brought on ourselves, earnestly seek you. We claim your promise that if we return to you, you will heal us and bind up our wounds. We ask you to revive us and restore us that we may live in your presence. We ask through the work of your Spirit that we will acknowledge you and press on to know you. We pray that, as surely as the sun rises, you will appear to us. Please come to us like the winter rains, and like the spring rains that water the earth, that we may be revived. This we ask in Jesus' name, amen.

"There is no better way to pray according to the will of God than by praying his own word back to him. These daily prayers are crafted, as much as possible, to incorporate the very words of the Scripture."

Welcome

Never before in the history of our country has America faced a moral crisis like the one before us today. The foundations of our government are crumbling right before our eyes. Our churches are abandoning God, our families are in shambles. There is only one hope for restoration - the Lord Jesus Christ.
