A Daily Prayer based on Ezekiel 11

Sovereign Lord, We know that in our day, just as in Ezekiel’s time, our cities and our nation have leaders whose plans and advice will result in great harm to our land. And so we pray against all leaders who plot evil and devise iniquity and give wicked counsel in our city and nation. We know that their purposes are not hidden from you since you know the things that come into their spirits and minds. May their counsel and plans come to nothing so that only your purposes may stand. I pray that ______________________ and I, and the people in our city and nation, will know that you and you alone are the Lord. I confess that we are a divided people, and we have not walked in your statutes, nor obeyed your rules but have acted according to the rules of the nations who do not acknowledge you. You would be entirely just to bring our deeds upon our own heads and to give us into the hands of foreigners to execute judgments upon us. We know that as your glory slowly departed from Israel because of the rebellion of the people, so your glory may be withdrawn from us as a nation because of our rebellion against you. And so I pray that you will give us one heart and put a new spirit in us. Please remove from us our heart of stone and give us a heart of flesh, so that we will walk in your statutes and keep your rules and obey them. Inspire us to follow your decrees and be careful to keep your laws instead of conforming to the standards of the world around us. I ask you to be a sanctuary for us wherever we are, and I pray that we will again be your people and that you will be our God. We pray that we as a people will all once again come to know that you and you alone are the Lord. It is in Jesus’ name that we ask these things. Amen.

"There is no better way to pray according to the will of God than by praying his own word back to him. These daily prayers are crafted, as much as possible, to incorporate the very words of the Scripture."
