A Daily Prayer based on Exodus 21:33-23:19

Sovereign Lord, We pray together in Jesus’ name for our community and nation, that the spirit of theft would be broken here, and that all crimes of theft and crimes against property would be punished. We ask that in increasing measure restitution rather than incarceration would be used to establish justice. We pray that those who give testimony in court will take seriously their oaths to speak the truth. We pray against the spirit of sexual immorality and seduction and release a spirit of purity and self-control into the lives and hearts of young singles. We pray for justice against those who take sexual advantage of others. We pray that you will restrain those who practice witchcraft and other occult arts. We pray against the practice of bestiality and pray that this perversion would find no place in our land. And we pray against all sacrifices offered to other gods. We ask you to purify us spiritually so that no one will invoke the names of other gods; may their names not be heard on our lips. We pray that we will not mistreat or oppress the legal aliens in our midst, and remember that we ourselves in the truest sense are aliens in this world. Lord, we see here how your anger is aroused when widows and orphans are taken advantage of, and we pray for your punishment against any who would take advantage of the divorced and fatherless in our community and nation. Make us generous toward the worthy poor and enable us to imitate your compassion for the needy. Prompt us to give practical help to our enemies and to those who hate us when it is in our power and responsibility to do so. We pray that we will not hold back offerings to you, or appear before you empty-handed. Instead may we offer to you the firstfruits of our labor. We pray that the day may come when all the men in our land will appear before you as their Sovereign Lord. May ever increasing numbers of parents in our city and nation dedicate their children to you. We pray that you will restrain blasphemy against you and restrain curses uttered against our civic leaders. We pray against those who spread false reports about others, and pray especially that no one would help the wicked by being a malicious witness in court. May we never follow the crowd in doing wrong. We pray that justice would not be perverted by those who side with the crowd when they give testimony. We pray that the poor would not be denied justice in our courts, but we also pray that no favoritism or partiality would be shown to a poor man in his lawsuit. We pray that our courts will not accept false charges, and that no innocent or honest person will be found guilty. Protect our legal system from corruption and bribes which blind those who see and twist the words of the righteous. We pray that through the work of your Spirit all of us in our culture will be careful to do everything you have said to us that we may be your holy people. Amen.

"There is no better way to pray according to the will of God than by praying his own word back to him. These daily prayers are crafted, as much as possible, to incorporate the very words of the Scripture."

Welcome

Never before in the history of our country has America faced a moral crisis like the one before us today. The foundations of our government are crumbling right before our eyes. Our churches are abandoning God, our families are in shambles. There is only one hope for restoration - the Lord Jesus Christ.
