Heavenly Father, we pray to you this day as the God of the living, as the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Lord Jesus, we pray to you as the Christ, the Son of David. Just as you were David's Lord, so we declare that you are our Lord. I release blessing in Jesus' name over every marriage represented among us. May you release the blessing of your Spirit over every holy thing that ties husband and wife together, that those connections may vibrate with a holy energy. I pray that you will destroy every work of Satan raised up to separate husband from wife. Please bless their intimacy in body, soul, and spirit. We pray together for all the single men and women in our community and nation, including our own children, that you will lead them to the mate of your choosing for them. Protect them from the tempter and even from themselves when necessary, that each of them may marry well. I pray for myself and for ______________________, that we all may be considered worthy of taking part in the coming age and in the resurrection from the dead. May we be your children and so be children of the resurrection. Father, you promised that as Christ sat at your right hand, you would make his enemies a footstool for his feet. We ask you to fulfill that promise. I pray for us, as we sit with Christ even now at your right hand, that you will use us to make everyone of your enemies, both seen and unseen, a footstool for your feet. Protect us from a love of recognition and importance, whether in society or the halls of government or in the life of the church. May we never seek to impress others by showy, lengthy prayers; instead may we always be focused on you in simple humility as we pray. We pray that you will help us to be discerning in our choices for political office, and to beware of those who seek public office for prominence and attention rather than to serve. Prompt us to beware of politicians whose policies are hard on the poor and whose religion is just for show. Please make us generous toward the work of your kingdom, whether we give out of our wealth or out of our poverty. May we remember your teaching about the poor widow, who gave extravagantly what she could not afford and was commended by you for giving the largest offering of all. This I pray in your name, Lord Jesus, amen.
