A Daily Prayer based on Psalm 119:81-104

Sovereign Lord God, We declare, along with the Psalmist, that your word is eternal, and that it stands firm in the heavens. Your faithfulness continues through all generations. You established the earth, and it endures. Your laws endure to this day, for all things serve you. Although there is a limit to all perfection, your commands are boundless. I pray this day in Jesus’ name for myself and for ______________________, that your law will be our delight. Prompt us to ponder your statutes and to meditate on them all day long. May your words be sweet to our taste, sweeter than honey to our mouths. Let us gain understanding from your precepts that we may hate every wrong path. May you yourself teach us that we may not depart from your laws. Make us wiser than our enemies; give us more insight than all our teachers, and more understanding than our elders as we obey your precepts. When the arrogant dig pitfalls for us, and men persecute us without cause, preserve our lives according to your word. Even though our enemies almost wipe us from the earth, may we not forsake your precepts. When our soul faints with longing and our eyes fail, looking for your promises and your salvation, teach us to put our hope in your word. Help us and save us, for we are yours. Amen.

"There is no better way to pray according to the will of God than by praying his own word back to him. These daily prayers are crafted, as much as possible, to incorporate the very words of the Scripture."
