Lord Jesus, I bring myself and ______________________ before your throne this day. I thank you that we are loved and have been called by your Father. I pray that all of us will be kept secure by you. I ask that mercy, peace, and love will be multiplied to us and be ours in abundance. I thank you for the faith, the truth of your word and the truth of the gospel, that has been once and for all delivered to the saints and entrusted to us. I pray that each of us, wherever you give us opportunity, will earnestly contend for and defend this faith and that we will unhesitatingly affirm you publicly as our rightful master and lord. Keep us from in any way changing or perverting the grace of God into a license for immorality, and alert us to those ungodly individuals who try to creep into our culture and subvert the great pillars of faith and morality. Prepare us all for the day when you will come with thousands upon thousands of your holy ones to execute judgment on everyone and to convict all the ungodly of all their deeds of ungodliness. We confess that there are many in our land who indulge in sexual immorality and pursue unnatural desire, many who revile and vilify anything they do not understand, and speak harsh things against you. Our land is full of grumblers and complainers, loud-mouthed boasters who show favoritism to gain advantage and follow their own sinful desires. I pray that you will open the eyes of everyone to see that those who reject your truth and follow their own instincts are destroyed in the end by what they do. May we not be grumblers or quick to find fault with others. Let us follow the impulses of the Holy Spirit rather than the desires of our own flesh. Restrain us when we are tempted to boast about ourselves and flatter others to our own advantage. Grant instead that we may live lives of humility and genuine love until the day of your return. In every election season, prompt us to choose political leaders who share our common salvation and who believe that the gospel is the faith that has once and for all been delivered to the world. Amen.
