Lord Jesus, I pray this day in your name for myself and for ______________________ . By the transforming work of your Spirit, I pray that we each may be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry. Remind us that our anger, the anger of man, does not produce the righteousness of God. May we get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so rampant in our culture, and receive with humility your implanted word. I claim your promise for us that your word is able to save our souls. I pray that we will not deceive ourselves by being hearers of your word only and not doers. May we look intently into your perfect law, the law of liberty, remember what it says, and do what it says. I pray that we will persevere in studying and obeying your word, and not be hearers who forget but doers who act. By your grace and mercy, may we be blessed in our doing. Help us to see that if we consider ourselves spiritual, but do not bridle our tongue, we are only deceiving ourselves and our religion is worthless. May we instead seek a religion that is pure and undefiled before God our Father. Please prompt us by your Spirit to look after orphans and widows in their affliction and distress and keep ourselves unstained from the world. Amen.
