A Daily Prayer based on Job 28-29

A prayer for someone who has suffered a reversal of fortune and a loss of respect. Lord God, I long for the months gone by, when I felt that you watched over me, and when your lamp shone upon my head. By your light I walked through darkness. I was in my prime, and your intimate friendship blessed my house. You, the Almighty One, were still with me. And yet it seems as though your hand of favor has been withdrawn from me. Those who used to listen to me and wait in silence for my counsel do so no longer. Those who heard me spoke well of me, and those who saw me commended me to others. And yet now they laugh at me and no longer treat me with respect. And yet, Lord, I will continue to put on righteousness and justice as my clothing. I will seek to be eyes to the blind and feet to the lame, to be a father to the needy and to take up the case even of strangers. I will seek to rescue the poor and the fatherless who cry for help and hope that once again I will walk in the light of your favor. I agree with your word that man does not know the worth of wisdom, or where it can be found. In ourselves, I confess that we do not know the place where true understanding dwells. It is hidden from the eyes of every living thing. But, Lord, you understand the way to wisdom and know the place where understanding is to be found. You look to the ends of the earth and you see everything under the heavens. You have looked at wisdom and appraised it, you have confirmed and tested it and revealed to us that it is priceless. It cannot be bought for gold, and silver cannot be weighed as its price. It cannot be valued even in the purest gold nor can it be exchanged for precious stones. And yet you have also told us this priceless treasure is free. I affirm that to fear you is wisdom, and that to turn away from evil is understanding. And so I choose, in Jesus' name, this day to fear you and to turn away from evil. Amen.

"There is no better way to pray according to the will of God than by praying his own word back to him. These daily prayers are crafted, as much as possible, to incorporate the very words of the Scripture."

Our churches are abandoning God, our families are in shambles. There is only one hope for restoration - the Lord Jesus Christ.
