A Daily Prayer based on II Samuel 19:9-39

Lord God, This is a striking story of renewal as many of David's former enemies are reconciled to him and he is restored to power. I pray for myself and for ______________________ , that we will grow to imitate the good examples we are given here. I pray that we will demonstrate David's willingness to forgive those who have sinned against us when they seek forgiveness from us. Protect us from the spirit of vengeance that we see in Abishai. We choose to forgive our debtors even as we ask you to forgive us our debts. Lord, it may seem an impossible thing, but I pray that those who have sinned against us will be prompted by your spirit to approach us in genuine repentance, as Shimei approached David. I pray that by your grace they will recognize where they have done wrong and where they have sinned and come to us in humility and seek forgiveness from us. And I pray that we also will manifest that same spirit of repentance. We open ourselves up to the searching gaze of your Spirit, and choose to seek forgiveness from those we have wronged. May they receive us as David received Shimei and not hold us guilty. When we suffer terrible losses at the hands of others, and have things snatched from us that rightly are ours, I pray, if it is in your will, that you will restore to us the years the locusts have eaten even as you did for David. May you bless the latter part of our lives even more than you have blessed the first part. This I pray in the name of Jesus, amen.

"There is no better way to pray according to the will of God than by praying his own word back to him. These daily prayers are crafted, as much as possible, to incorporate the very words of the Scripture."

Our churches are abandoning God, our families are in shambles. There is only one hope for restoration - the Lord Jesus Christ.
