A Daily Prayer based on II Samuel 10-11

Lord God, I pray that you will link ______________________ and me together with other brothers and sisters in the body of Christ as Joab and his brother were. May we look out for each other and come to each other's side when the pressure is on. When I run into opposition that is too strong for me, I pray that you will rally others to come and help me. And when my friends encounter opposition that is too strong for them, I ask you to prompt me to go to them and help them. I pray that we all will be strong in you and in your mighty strength and be courageous in the Spirit for our people and our cities and your kingdom. We choose to believe that as we do our part, we can leave the results in your hands and you will do what is good in your sight. We are sobered by the example of David's fall into sin, and I pray that we all will take warning. We acknowledge the vulnerability that success can create, and so I pray that we all will reject the spirit of complacency that left David open to temptation. We see that David stayed home "at the time when kings go off to war;" may we instead choose to continue to fulfill our responsibilities and refuse to open ourselves up to the schemes of the devil by shirking them or passing them on to others. I pray that we will maintain sexual purity in the inner man, and resist the lust that produces adultery in the heart. May we be quick to resist temptation instead of indulging it and coddling it. We see how much damage David did in trying to conceal his sin, and so I pray that we will reject any effort to conceal our sin and choose instead to openly confess it before you. We affirm that nothing is concealed from you, and we accept the reality that if the thing we have done displeases you, you will draw it into the open at the time of your choosing. We pray not only for ourselves but for our culture, that you will break the power of the spirit of lust and adultery and sexual immorality that has gripped so many lives and destroyed so many marriages and families. I pray that we will serve as examples for others around us so they may see that by your grace there is a better way. This we pray in Jesus' name, amen.

"There is no better way to pray according to the will of God than by praying his own word back to him. These daily prayers are crafted, as much as possible, to incorporate the very words of the Scripture."

Welcome

Never before in the history of our country has America faced a moral crisis like the one before us today. The foundations of our government are crumbling right before our eyes. Our churches are abandoning God, our families are in shambles. There is only one hope for restoration - the Lord Jesus Christ.
