A Daily Prayer based on I Samuel 4:1b-22

Sovereign Lord, We see in this story how your presence can depart from a people who persist in dishonoring you, and we read about the futile effort of people to use religious objects as good luck charms when they have no active faith in you. I pray that you will protect ______________________ and me from these deceptions. May we not be deceived into thinking that we will not have to live with the consequences of our decisions. Instead, I pray that we will recognize that we must, in time, reap what we sow. May we sow to the Spirit so that from the Spirit we may reap eternal life. I pray that we will recognize that your presence and your power will eventually depart in the face of prolonged spiritual apathy. May we always prepare ourselves for whatever crises may come into our lives by honoring you and being faithful to you and doing what is in your heart and mind. We pray together for our nation. We freely confess that in many ways your glory has departed from our land because of our own sin and disobedience and spiritual apathy. Our hearts tremble when we think of how superficial our faith in you has been, and how often we have treated you as a good luck charm instead of the Lord of hosts who is enthroned on the cherubim. I pray that we as a nation will turn back to you in sincere and genuine faith so that you as the living God may once again live in our midst and save us from the power of our enemies. I claim your promise for us that you will honor those who honor you. May we honor you in all that we do so that your glory may never depart from our lives. This I pray in Jesus' name, amen.

"There is no better way to pray according to the will of God than by praying his own word back to him. These daily prayers are crafted, as much as possible, to incorporate the very words of the Scripture."

Our churches are abandoning God, our families are in shambles. There is only one hope for restoration - the Lord Jesus Christ.
