A Daily Prayer based on I Samuel 10:17-11:15

Lord God, We acknowledge that you are the one who has brought us up as a nation from our beginning and has delivered us from the hand of all the kingdoms that oppressed us. We confess that in many ways we today have rejected you as our God, but we affirm today that you and you alone can save us as a people and a culture out of all our calamities and distresses. We ask you to move in us as a people so that we will select leaders who will have a clear understanding of both their rights and their responsibilities. I pray for ______________________ and for myself, that we all will respond readily when you call us to a particular challenge or responsibility. May we not be like Saul, who tried to avoid the calling you had placed on his life by hiding himself. I pray that we will understand the unique things you have chosen each of us to do, and that by your grace others will see that you have called us to that task. I pray that you will bring around each of us men of valor whose hearts you have touched to be our friends and companions and fellow warriors in the Spirit. Grant us the strength to hold our peace when people who lack character despise us and belittle us. Lord, we see here that there are times when anger is an emotion inspired and energized by your Spirit. I pray that we will be outraged at the right things and at the right time but never at the wrong things at the wrong time. Deliver us from apathy and complacency when the things that matter to you are under assault. I pray that your Spirit will come on us with power to energize us to do your will. I pray that you will raise up leaders in your church and in our land who will rouse our nation from its spiritual apathy. Please awaken us to our connectedness to every other congregation in our community and nation so that we will recognize that a threat of the enemy to one is a threat to us all. May the dread and fear of you fall upon us, the fear of what you will do to us if we do not follow you, that we may come out as one man against the work of those who oppose you. We believe that if your Spirit comes on us in power, and your leaders direct us, there is no stronghold of Satan that can withstand the power of your church or our nation. We pray that you will grant deliverance to our city and nation, so that your enemies may be so scattered that no two of them will be left together. May we all one day be able to rejoice greatly over the salvation you have worked for city and for our nation. This I ask in Jesus' name. Amen.

"There is no better way to pray according to the will of God than by praying his own word back to him. These daily prayers are crafted, as much as possible, to incorporate the very words of the Scripture."

Welcome

Never before in the history of our country has America faced a moral crisis like the one before us today. The foundations of our government are crumbling right before our eyes. Our churches are abandoning God, our families are in shambles. There is only one hope for restoration - the Lord Jesus Christ.
