A Daily Prayer based on I Kings 10:14-11:43

Lord God, We read here that Solomon's heart was turned away from you through money, power, and sex. I pray in Jesus' name that ______________________ and I will learn from his example and avoid repeating his mistakes. Remind us of what Jesus taught us, that we cannot serve both you and Mammon. May we reject the temptation to serve Mammon and choose to serve only you. We remember that Jesus came not to be served but to serve and to give his life a ransom for many, and so I pray that we too will seek to serve others this day rather than to be served by them. We remember the teaching of Jesus that lust is a form of mental adultery, and so I pray that with your help we may resist the pull of sexual temptation, even in our thought life, that we may be pure in heart and so be able to see you with the eyes of our inner man. I pray that we will refuse to be led astray from you or to hold fast to anything but you. May we have hearts that are fully devoted to you, as the heart of David was. I pray that we will follow you completely, and do whatever you command us to do this day. I pray that we will choose political leaders at every level whose hearts will not turn away from you and who are committed to keeping your covenant and the statutes you have commanded. I pray that we will choose leaders who worship you and you alone, and who do not participate in any way in the worship of counterfeit religions and counterfeit gods. We freely confess, Lord, that when it comes to political leaders we have often chosen poorly and have chosen leaders who do not listen to all your commands and do not do what is right in your eyes. And as was true in Solomon’s day, we have reaped the bitter fruit of a divided nation and have exposed ourselves to destruction from our enemies, both foreign and domestic. We pray that you will forgive us. We know that we ourselves have too often forsaken you. We have invited foreign gods into our midst and have and not kept your statues and your rules. We implore you to renew us as a people that we once again will seek to to walk in your ways and to do what is right in your eyes. As we do, I pray that you will be with us and build us up and make us again an undivided people who are strong in you. Amen.

"There is no better way to pray according to the will of God than by praying his own word back to him. These daily prayers are crafted, as much as possible, to incorporate the very words of the Scripture."

Welcome

Never before in the history of our country has America faced a moral crisis like the one before us today. The foundations of our government are crumbling right before our eyes. Our churches are abandoning God, our families are in shambles. There is only one hope for restoration - the Lord Jesus Christ.
