A Daily Prayer based on Matthew 5:1-16

Lord Jesus, I bow before you this day as my Lord and my King. I ask for your favor this day for myself and for ______________________ . I pray that we all will recognize our own spiritual poverty apart from you, so that we may belong to your kingdom, the kingdom of heaven, and possess all its riches. May we mourn for our own sin in genuine repentance, so that we may be comforted by your mercy and forgiveness. Grant us a gentle spirit instead of a grasping spirit, so that we may be blessed with increasing influence. Please cause us, in your own time, to inherit the earth. Produce in us a hunger and thirst for righteousness, and fully satisfy us by filling us with your righteousness. May we be merciful to others, that we may be blessed by receiving mercy in return. Grant us purity in heart, that we may be blessed by seeing God. Cause us to be peacemakers, that we may be like you and may be called sons of God. Grant us a willingness to be insulted, persecuted, and falsely accused of many evil things because of you. May we even experience joy, knowing that our reward in heaven with you is great and we have been given a place among the prophets who have gone before us. Use us to be the salt of the earth, to arrest the spread of spiritual and moral decay around us. May we never lose our saltiness so that we may always be useful to you. I pray that you will enable us to be the light of the world, a light that is not hidden but put on a stand so that it gives light to everyone around us. May our light so shine before men that they will see our good deeds and praise our Father who is in heaven. In your name, amen.

"There is no better way to pray according to the will of God than by praying his own word back to him. These daily prayers are crafted, as much as possible, to incorporate the very words of the Scripture."

Never before in the history of our country has America faced a moral crisis like the one before us today. The foundations of our government are crumbling right before our eyes. Our churches are abandoning God, our families are in shambles. There is only one hope for restoration - the Lord Jesus Christ.
